About Jonathan Eig
Jonathan Eig grew up in Rockland County, N.Y. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.

After college he worked as a newspaper reporter, first for the New Orleans Times-Picayune, and then for the Dallas Morning News. He moved to Chicago in 1995 and joined the staff of Chicago magazine, where he won numerous writing awards and eventually became the magazine’s executive editor. He has written for Esquire, The New Republic, and The American Prospect. In 2000, he joined the staff of The Wall Street Journal, where he now works as a senior special reporter.

He lives in Chicago with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Lillian. He’s a loyal Yankee fan who learned about baseball from listening to Phil Rizzuto and Bill White on his pocket radio.
